The Ruined Capital

彼黍离离，彼稷之苗。
行迈靡靡，中心摇摇。
知我者，谓我心忧；
不知我者，谓我何求。
悠悠苍天，此何人哉？
The millet drops its head;
The sorghum is in sprout.
Slowly I trudge and tread;
My heart is tossed about.
Those who know me will say，
My heart is sad and bleak;
Those who don’t know me may
Ask me for what I seek.
O boundless azure sky,
Who’s ruined the land and why?

知我者，谓我心忧；

Immortal at the Magpie Bridge

纤云弄巧，飞星传恨，银汉迢迢暗度。
金风玉露一相逢，便胜却人间无数。

Clouds float like works of art;
Stars shoot with grief at heart.
Across the Milky Way the Cowherd meets the Maid.
When autumn’s Golden Wind embraces Dew of Jade,
All the love scenes on earth, however many, fade.

柔情似水，佳期如梦，忍顾鹊桥归路。
两情若是久长时，又岂在朝朝暮暮。

Their tender love flows like a stream;
This happy date seems but a dream.
Can they bear a separate homeward way?
If love between both sides can last for aye,
Why need they stay together night and day?
